The Hungarian government initially planned to tax
the internet because of their internal issues but after a certain period of
time controversial behavior raised up in the general public because of this
perspective. The government decided to implement tax on the internet traffic
and people were asked to pay the task. The task focused on the perspective of
data plan and it would impose fee on each gigabyte of internet data
transferred. This would create a hindrance in transferring information and this
would create a long-term negative impact. The tax imposed would set at 150
forints (£0.40; 0.50 Euros; $0.60) with respect to per gigabyte of the data
traffic. The general people believed that this would not be a viable strategy
to impose tax on the internet because this would stop the freedom of expression
and it would negatively affect the students too. Students would not be able to
search for information and they would not be able to complete their respective
papers and school assignments.
However, several people initiated protests in this
region because they believe that this is a negative stance of the government.
The demonstrators hurled old computer parts at the prime minister’s office. The
civilians ragged their voice against the prime minister and shouted dictator
because of the aspect that the government threatened civil liberties.
Different supporters insulted the government because
of these protests and laid their anger against different departments of the
government. The government representatives believed in the ideology that they
do not want to restrict the people and they do not want to restrain them from
freedom of speech. The government for the time being has decided not to
continue this strategy because this might rage violence amongst people. However,
the government is having talks with the protestors so that they can hold their
protests for the time being.
